Chief Karnataka Siddaramaiaha strongly protested against “inaccurate” automatic translations of Kannada content on meta platforms led by Mark Zuckerberg, which warns that such incorrect translations can “distort facts and mislead the user”, especially in terms of official communication.
Right to the Social Media Platform X, the main minister wrote: “Faulty automatic translation of Kannada content on @Meta platforms distorts facts and misleading users. It’s particularly dangerous in terms of official communication.”
Siddarahaiaha, he emphasized the seriousness of the problem, further warned: “Social media platforms must act responsibly. I warn citizens to be aware that the translations displayed are often inaccurate.

According to a public statement, media advisor CM KV Prabhakar, formally wrote a meta and urged immediate corrective measures. In a letter addressed by the META India Prabhakar team, he said: “We have not worried that automatic translation from Kannada to English is often inaccurate and in some cases grossly misleading. This poses an important risk, especially if public roads, official exhibitions or important reports from the main minister and the government are incorrect.”
He added that these shortcomings “may lead to an incorrect interpretation between users, many of whom may not realize that what he reads is more of an automated and defective translation than the original message.”
The letter urged the meta to take two key steps:
1. Temporarily suspend the automatic translation function for Kannada until the accuracy is improved.
2. Working with qualified Kannada and linguistic professionals to increase context accuracy.
“We are asking to treat this problem with proper severity and be addressed with priority,” he read the letter.
