
Later this month, an agreement on the establishment of a compressed biogas plant in Njeliyanparamba in Kozhikode will be signed.
This was decided at a special meeting of the Kozhikode Corporation Council Council, which was chaired on Wednesday (July 16, 2025) by the mayors of Beeu Philip. The state government, Kozhikode Corporation and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) will conclude an agreement, with BPCL responsible for establishing a race. The Minister of Corporation Ku Bini said that construction work will begin soon. BPCL will also take steps to ensure the safety of the race.
The company will hand over seven hectares for equipment where 150 tonnes of Biowaste will be processed. A fuel station will be connected to the plant. The construction is expected to be completed in two years.
The sources said that Biowaste will be sent to the race collected from various departments of Harith Karma Hyreh. Biogas created that Gashority of India Limited would be sold. The estimated project costs are CRORE 99 GBP. Approximately six tons of biogas are expected to be generated.
