The Highs Grounds police arrested a 57 -year -old Gem from Hyderabad on Wednesday for theft of foreign delegates in Star Hotels in the city.
The accused, Chintakindi Srinivasulu, was a trader with a gem who lived in an apartment in Hyderabad. Srinivasulu would collect details of conferences held in star hotels from the media and visited them, presented them as a delegate.
The accused would focus on foreign delegates and stole their valuables, especially foreign currency, Hakay Akshay Machindra, DCP (Central Division) said. With his arrest, the police received $ 270 USD, $ 2,900 TWD (Taiwanese currency), $ 2,000 AUD (Australian currency) and 10,000 lacquer (Lao Cincy) from him.
The accused attended a conference at the Shangri-LA Hotel in June this year and stole $ 300 and $ 3,000 from a delegate identified as Roger Ninepo Sheng. On the basis of the complaint, the police traced the accused through technical evidence found on the crime. The accused is involved in two such cases, including one in the limits of the Sadashiva Nagar Police Station this year. The police are further investigating to find out his criminal background.
