The Supreme Court asked July 16 why the team team of the special investigation team Haryan (SIT), who set up two firs filed against Professor Ashok University Ali Khan Mahmudabad about his two contributions on social media, “Sindoor Operation”.
The Justices Surya Kant and Joymalya Bagchi noted that the SIT was created specifically to explore two social media posts and asked why it was expanding the scope.

The Supreme Court ordered SIT to complete its investigation within four weeks, Legal News reported Livelaw.
The bench pointed out that the SIT was specially made up to understand the true meaning of social media contributions and found out whether they were any crime. The bench asked why the petitioner’s device was confiscated.
“We just want to know it from the network … What purpose did they confiscate the facility?
The court knowing that the petitioner cooperated with the investigation and gave up his facilities, released the conditions of the deposit and ordered to be convened again.
“You don’t need it (Mahmudabad), you need a dictionary,” said justice Kant.
The Court repeated that the investigation must remain limited to the content of both companies and not to become a wider investigation.
Mahmudabad, who teaches political science at Ashoka University based in Haryana, was arrested on May 18 for his notes concerning press briefings about Sindoor surgery, The Indian military event in May at the terrorist camps in Pakistan after the terrorist attack of Pahalgam, which killed 22 people, mostly tourists in southern Kashmir.
The arrest was based on complaints filed by Yogesh Jatheri, Secretary General of Bharatiya Janata (BJP) Yuva Morch in Haryana.
On May 21, however, the Supreme Court awarded Mahmudabad a temporary bail and ordered the institute of a three -member SIT to explore the case.
Two fir against prof Mahmudabad
Haryan’s police said the two firs were filed at the Rai police station in Sonipat – one based on the complaints of the President of the State Commission Haryan for Women, Rena Bhatia and the other on complaints about the village of Sarpanch.

Mahmudabad’s notes were connected to the Commission announcement, and said in one of them that right -wing people applauding Col sofiya qureshi should require data lynching victims and “arbitrary” bulldozing real estate.
Mahmudabad was reportedly described by the media briefings of Col Qureshi and the Singh Wing Commander as “Optics”.
“But the optics must translate into reality on Earth, otherwise it’s just hypocrisy,” he added.
The Commission previously stated that the initial review of Mahmudabad notes raised concerns about “crushing women in uniform, including Col Qureshi and Singh’s wing commander, and undermines their role as professional officers in the Indian armed forces”.
Who is Ali Khan Mahmudabad?
Mahmudabad, 42, is a historian, political scientist, writer, poet and faculty at Ashoka University, Sonipat, Haryan.
Ali, born in Lucknow on December 2, 1982, is the son of Mohammad Amira Mohammad Khan, popularly known as Raja Sahab Mahmudabad, who spent about 40 years in the legal battle of obtaining his ancestor detained by the Hostile Act. Raja Saheb died in October 2023.
