In the last and half years, Chhattisgarh has seen 1,301 cases of computer crime in which victims lost more than 107 GBP Crore, prosecutor Vijay Sharma reported the State Assembly.
The police received 3.36 crore in 107, he said.
BJP MLA Sunil Soni, who raised a problem in an hour of question, was looking for information about the number of cases of computer crime administered in Chhattisgarh from January 2024 to June 2025, and also asked what steps to face such a crime.
Thousands of people are cheated on a computer crime and some victims are even forced to commit suicide, he said.
In his answer Mr. Sharma, who also holds the domestic portfolio, he said that during this period a total of 1,301 cases of computer crime were registered in the State.
In these cases, the victims lost money for 107.03 crore, he said.
During this period, the victims were obtained by the amount of 3.69 GBP Crore and returned.
To prevent cyber crimes, one state police station and five cyber police stations are in operation at the scope level. Cyber cells also operate at the district level and in some districts the approval of cyber police stations were received.
Cyber forensic laboratory equipped with modern cybernetic tools operates in the police headquarters in Raipur to test digital evidence collected during researching cyber crimes. For the development of cyber crime research capacity, police/employees are trained from time to time on complex topics such as Dark Web/Crypto currency through prestigious institutions such as C-Dac and Sardar VallaBhbhai National Police Academy, he said.
According to the Ministry of the Interior of the Union, one officer and five other officers/employees from the state have recently been trained as part of a cyber commando system in the fight against computer crime. SIM cards and IMEI numbers connected to computer crime are blocked. To avoid cyber crime, he added extensive programs to raise public awareness at the Police headquarters and at the level of the district.
Regarding efforts spent on money by victims, CM representatives responded, the National Portal for Computer Crime (NCRP) is operated to provide instant registration of complaints with cyber criminality complaints.
The modern call center Hellinky Cyber Crime Number 1930 operates in the state 24×7. Suspect transactions are suspended by trained police/employees working in the call center by introducing direct coordination with nodal officers of banks, electronic walls and payment gates. In registered cases of cyber crime, the refund process is carried out according to court orders, he said.
In a written answer to another question raised by BJP MLA Gajendra Yadav, the representative of CM answered, 67,389 people from the state filed complaints about online fraud, which includes the amount of 791 Crore on the NCRP portal from 2023 to June 2025.
21 195 complaints were destroyed and 1,820 victims were obtained and returned, he added.
