TMinister of the Interior Hough Union Amit Shah announced in April that the links between Bharatiya Janata (BJP) and India Anna David Munnetr Kazhagam (Aiadmk) were restored, there was no party to hide apparent contradictions between them.
At the press conference, which was held together with the Secretary General Aiadmk, Edapppads K. Palaniswami, Mr. Shah said, “We will fight the elections under the leadership of Edapadiji.” He also added that in the case of victory there would be a “coalition government”. AIADMK did not respond positively to this announcement. It’s not just AIADMK; Even the ruling predator Munnetr Kazhagam (DMK) has always been aversion to the idea of a coalition government in Tamil Nadu.
In the 1980 elections, DMK-ConGress is unable to capture much. The coalition components questioned the same number of seats. After the bike of the DMK, Congress finally agreed that the then head of DMK, M. Karunanidhi, would be projected as the main candidate of the Minister. The coalition, however, did not click on matches. Instead, AIADMK, who won only two seats in the Lok Sabha elections at the beginning of that year and subsequently lost power in Tamil Nadu, organized a magnificent return to the vote of the assembly.
In 2001, when AIADMK attacked elections to the assembly of 141 seats – the lowest number ever questioned – with regard to the urge to coalition, political circles discussed whether the party could gain the simple majority of its own. AIADMK needed 118 seats in the house 234. However, the party had no reason to worry because it gained 132 seats.
In 2006, DMK did not achieve a simple majority because it gained only 96 seats. Yet he refused to share power with his allies. Karunanidhi and the then head of the Sonia Gandhi congress shared such a good relationship that Patriarch DMK managed to create a government without sharing power with congress.
After making this comment in April, Mr. Shah repeated his position in many media interviews. Obviously, AIADMK is not on the same page. AIADMK spokesman Vaigaichelvan, who mentioned the State of the Minister of the Union, said that the concept of the coalition government would “never” never find acceptance among the population of the state. Similarly, Mr. Palaniswami, who launched a national tour from July 7 in the period before the elections to the Assembly of 2026, claimed that AIADMK would form a government after gaining the majority. When he was asked to comment on Mr. Shaha’s position, he said he interpreted them as approval of the rule of one party in the state. Despite the contradictory opinions of both parties, the State President of BJP, Nagendran and the Minister of the Union L. Murugan participated in the start of the campaign of Mr. Palaniswami.
In one interview, Mr. Shah said that nominated for the post of chief minister comes from AIADMK; He did not mention the name of Mr. Palaniswami. It was not unnoticed in the DMK circles. The party tried to reject the Secretary General Aiadmk and saw Mr. Shaha’s statement as a lack of trust in the leadership of Mr. Palaniswami. In the end, Mr. Nagendran was left to clarify that the leader Aiadmk would lead the government.
Yet it is speculation that the Minister of the Union can mean former Minister of Municipal Administration in Coimbatore, SP Velumani. About three weeks ago, AIADMK Strongman shared the stage with Chief Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Mohan Bhagwat and head of the BJP leader at the birth of Pope Perur Mutt, Shanthaling Ramasama Adigalar. Later he explained that he participated in an event called “apolitical”, only as a local legislature. Before the announcement of the binding between the two parties, there were reports on the differences between the opinion between the Chief of Aiadmk and some of his leaders, including Mr. Velumani.
Given that the debate of the nature of the government could spoil the story of opposition parties, it would soon be the problem to solve the problem. After being said, it remains inexplicable that this debate even rages because the composition of different alliances has not yet been completed.
