
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov rejected the threat of US President Donald Trump on Tuesday to deposit 100% tariffs on Russia and his business partners, and Moscow’s promotion is well equipped with the weather of further economic pressure.
“The number of sanctions announced against us is already unprecedented. We can do it; I have no doubt that we will deal with,” Lavrov said at a press conference after meeting of Foreign Ministers in Shanghai (SCO) for meeting Tianjin in China.
The organization for cooperation in Shanghai includes 10 Member States: China, Russia, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Belarus. China currently holds a rotating presidency.
Trump below “Incorrect pressure” from NATO, EU
Lavrov accused the European leader and leader of NATO of pushing Trump to a more aggressive attitude to the war of Ukraine.
“It is obvious that (Trump) is under huge – incorrect, I would say – the pressure of the European Union and the current NATO leaders,” Lavrov told reporters, reported Russian state media outlets of RT.
He added that the Government of Ukraine continues to demand weapons from the West to the “rising costs of Western taxpayers”.
Sanctions are “bouncing to the west”, warns Lavrov
Lavrov also warned that Trump’s proposed new tariffs and sanctions could harm the countries themselves that store them.
“Trump clearly explained that Europe would pay for it,” Lavrov said.
“European economists and political experts who are aiming recognize that this war is damaging the nations that have launched it.”
50 -day ultimatum unclear, says Moscow
Trump recently announced that if Russia does not reach an agreement on the Ukrainian conflict within 50 days, it will accept 100% of tariffs. Lavrov said that the term lacks clarity.
“We would like to understand what is behind this statement after about 50 days,” he told the Russian State news agency TASS.
“Previously there were also dates of 24 hours and 100 days; we saw that everything.”
Moscow repeats the long -term complaint of NATO
Lavrov repeated the Russian view that NATO triggered the war of Ukraine by threatening its national security.
“For decades, the West has followed the strategy of detaining against Russia and ignored repeated warnings from Moscow,” Lavrov said according to RT.
Trump disappointed with Putin, says tariffs may be inevitable
At the meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Trump said he was “very unfortunate” with Russian President Vladimir Putin for not reaching the agreements earlier.
“We will do very strict tariffs unless we have an agreement in 50 days,” Trump said in the White House.
“It wasn’t my war. It was Biden’s war … But we want to see it.”
