
For 75 individuals who gave up the hope of ever seeing their lost mobile phones, it was a moment of surprise and gratitude. Their phones, once thought they were gone forever, were returned by Police Kottayam for a short action held in the office of the Chief of the District Police The next day.
Successful recovery was the result of a joint operation of the cyber police Kottayam and cyber cells that launched a campaign to track mobile phones reported from different parts of the district in the last six months. During the event, the head of the district police Shahul Hameed A. personally handed over the facility back to its justified owners.
What was even more remarkable was the achievement of recovery, because several of these stolen phones were traced to distant states such as Bengal, Assam and Bihar. 14 phones were obtained from the Government Medical Faculty on the basis of individual complaints. Another 10 was obtained from the church area Nagampadam St. Antony.
Based on the event, the head of the district police emphasized the importance of early registration of the complaint.
“The loss of a mobile phone today is a major part of your daily life as a loss. Our goal is not only to restore devices, but also to build public confidence in the system. We want people to understand that complaints can have a real difference,” he said.
According to the official, he was even organized in an effort to raise awareness, to support public participation and show that the police take every complaint seriously.
