CBSE revaluation portal faces glitches on day one; Aadhaar verification is mandatory

As many as 16,000 students have applied for revaluation of their papers till Tuesday (June 2, 2026) afternoon after the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) opened a portal to facilitate submission of requests for revaluation of answer sheets, the board said.

CBSE opened the portal on Tuesday (June 2, 2026) to allow applications to verify the issues observed in the scanned copies of the answer sheets provided by it and re-evaluate the answers. The portal will remain open until midnight on June 6, the council said.

CBSE opened its portal after a one-day delay; the portal was supposed to be launched on June 1.

Despite the glitches, CBSE said on its portal that “no offline applications will be accepted”. Also, applications submitted after the scheduled date and time will not be accepted, the board said.

On the first day of its launch, several Class 12 students shared screenshots reporting a number of technical glitches and grading irregularities.

After filling the login details (Roll Number, Date of Birth) and captcha code, the students got ‘Authentication Failed, Check Details’.

Heavy server traffic caused the website to become unresponsive during the process. Many students reported that after selecting subjects or detailed details, the page completely froze or was redirected to a completely blank screen, forcing them to start over.

The new user interface was reportedly broken on mobile devices, including overlapping text and unclickable buttons, which was annoying for students trying to complete the process on their phones.

“The CBSE revaluation portal currently supports more than 8,000 concurrent users. As of 3:00 pm today, more than 16,000 students have successfully completed their submissions,” CBSE said on Tuesday (June 2).

“While thousands of students accessed the CBSE revaluation portal (on Tuesday), malicious actors attempted to disrupt services through a number of cyber attacks. The latest was an attempted Denial of Service attack that caused 1.5 million accesses to the portal within 2 minutes and more than 1,000 unauthorized access attempts to files,” CBSE further said in its official statement.

“Based on student feedback, we have further improved the platform, including extending the session time limits to make the process more convenient and hassle-free,” the board said.

“Students can apply online for resolution of issues observed in the supplied scanned copy of the answer book, including missing pages, missing supplementary sheets, missing maps/graphs, blurred pages, incorrect answer book or grading against another set,” CBSE said in its official statement.

“Multiple problems and subjects can be selected in one application. If students are not satisfied with the assessment, they can log into this facility,” the statement further said.

Students can also apply online for revaluation of one or more questions in one or more subjects by providing the required details including question number and page number. They are required to ensure that all intended cross-subject requirements are included prior to final submission.

Students were instructed to enter their Aadhaar number to log into the portal. “Aadhaar verification has been included for security reasons. For children who do not have Aadhaar, the Aadhaar details of a parent, relative or guardian can be used. In this case, the name in Aadhaar, date of birth and gender of the person whose Aadhaar number is being used must be there,” CBSE officials said.

Legal experts pointed out that the Supreme Court had declared mandatory Aadhaar verification unconstitutional. “Firstly, Aadhaar cannot be mandatory. Adding a layer of Aadhaar authentication adds some friction to the IT portal, but any impersonator who wants to enter the portal through social engineering can get in by tricking someone to get their Aadhaar details and spoof the system,” a cyber security researcher and privacy advocate told The Hindu, requesting anonymity.

CBSE charges ₹100 per answer book for verifying problems observed in the scanned copies supplied and ₹25 per question for revaluation.

Once the ‘Freeze’ and ‘Proceed to Payment’ buttons are clicked, the details are locked and cannot be edited, the board said. Thus, students have been cautioned to ensure that all details are correct. “The application will be considered successfully submitted only after successful payment through the online payment gateway,” the board said.

Students can download and track the status of their application through the portal.
