
Minister of Finance KN Balagopal underlined the growing global presence of Ayurvedy and pointed out that ensuring international certification remains one of the main challenges facing the traditional medical system.

“Ayurveda must focus on scientific production of drugs and greater integration with modern sciences,” said Mr. Balagopal.
He noted that Vaidyaratnam’s cooperation with Johns Hopkins University, based in the US, will significantly strengthen the global figure of Ayurvedy. The Minister also reiterated the support of the state government to these initiatives and appreciated Vaidyaratnam Ooushadhasala, founded in 1941, for his key role in the popularization of Ayurveda.
Dr. B. Ananthakrishhnan, Vice -President of Kalamandalam, added the commemorative address Ashtavaidyan et Neelakandhan Mooss and emphasized the historical connection between art and healing in Kerala. He noted that both fields share well -defined methodologies and advocate that Ayurveda be recognized as a viable alternative to the dominant Western medical practices, and in this respect, Vaidyaratnam’s efforts can be praised.
Ashtavaidyan Dr. Et Neelakandhan Mooss, CEO of Vaidyaratnam Group, emphasized the revival of Marma Chikitsa and yoga therapy, once considered lost traditions. He encouraged experts and students to recognize the current importance of Marma Chikitsa and record their potential to further encourage Ayurveda.
The program also represented a panel discussion on “marma and orthopedics: exploring the penetration of traditional and modern practices”.
