Sarthak Sidhant is too young to be elected to Parliament, but the 17-year-old student from Jharkhand who raised alleged irregularities in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) On Screen Marking System (OSM) selection process presented his findings to a parliamentary standing committee on Tuesday (June 2, 2026).

The Committee on Education, Women, Children, Youth and Sports, chaired by Congress MP Digvijaya Singh, met to discuss the “use of On-Screen Marking (OSM) in CBSE Class 12 examinations and problems faced by students”.

Mr. Sidhant, who appeared for the Class 12 exams this year, submitted a seven-page document detailing alleged anomalies in CBSE’s selection process for online marking vendors and asked the commission a series of questions, sources said.

Sarthak Sidhant participated in a webinar titled “Technical Issues in CBSE Marks” hosted by The Hindu on 30 May 2026 at 5:00 PM.

His presentation was made in the presence of CBSE chairman Rahul Singh and school education secretary Sanjay Kumar along with other officials from the education department and the board. Mr. Singh was transferred hours after the meeting.

Meanwhile, CBSE submitted a report to the panel detailing the challenges involved in implementing the OSM process. Officials, sources said, promised MPs that the problems with the portal had been resolved and that students now had until Saturday (June 6) to request a re-evaluation of the answer sheets.
