Indians make up the largest group of students applying for higher education in the UK, UK Deputy High Commissioner (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana) Gareth Wynn Owen said.
Given the changed global scenario and despite recently introduced stricter visa regulations, 92% of applications from global students are processed positively, he said, which he attributes to quality and affordable educational prospects.
He was addressing a media conference after inaugurating the Tirupati branch of Academic Overseas Private Limited here on Tuesday when he spoke about how the UK has become the most preferred destination for higher education globally.
Mr Owen said several of the UK’s prestigious universities continued to rank among the top institutions in the world. “A student armed with a degree from one of our universities will certainly advance further than his peers to get a nice placement,” he noted.
Representatives from Middlesex University, University of Hertfordshire, Heriot Watt University, Ulster University, Regent College London, Walbrook Institute London also shared their insights with the participants.
TDP leader and young entrepreneur BV Keerthi inaugurated the branch along with Mr. Owen while CEO Anne Sudhir Chowdary, Directors Anne Lakshmi, Vasireddy Ramesh, Jorepalli Prudhvi, CEO Dommaraju Hemanth Raju, Technical Head K. Charan and Branch Manager V. Surender were present.
