
The Ministry of Energy of the Union revised the assignment of Tamil’s powers from NLC India LTD (NLCIC) Thermal Power Station-II.
In a letter of 26 April 2025, NLC demanded relocation from the Lignite project (based on Lignite) according to the revision in the project configuration from 2×660 MW (1320 MW-Superkritic) to 2×500 MW (1000 MW-Sub-Critical), she said in recent communication.
Previously, the Ministry made it possible to adopt sub -critical technology for the project with regard to limitation in the availability of technology related to super critical configuration based on lignite.
The Ministry of the Union’s energy energy has decided to allocate 830.44 MW or 83.044% of the installed capacity from the NLC-II thermal power plant extension project at Tamil Nadu, while 19.56 MW is assigned to Puduchherry. The remaining 150 MW will be, according to the Ministry for the South Regional Energy Committee.
The assignment will be subject to agreements on the purchase of energy concluded by NLCIL with state -owned energy companies and recipients providing compliance with financial and commercial conditions.
The uninterrupted force in the declaration of commercial operation will be added to the Southern Region Energy Fund and will be assigned to states according to existing instructions, the ministry said.
According to a comment on the Policy of the Ministry of the State Energy Department, the central generation station represents 6,953 MW installed capacity Tamil Nadu network as on 01.04.2025. The state satisfies its energy demand from its own heat capacity, shares, among other things, from central generation stations, long -term open access (LTOA), medium -term open access (MTOA).
