Ponsana David, CEO and working mother of two daughters aged 9 and 14 years, aroused concerns about how adult products such as condoms and sex toys are easily accessible and often visible, on popular food and food platforms such as Zomato, Blinkhing, Swiggy and Zindo, without any parental controls or filters.
In detailed LinkedIn Post, wrote:
“What if your nine -year -old man who was holding a sex toy or a condom pack came to you? Would you be okay with it? Isn’t that a dramatic question. It’s a real option in today’s digital world.”
She explained that her daughters routinely use UPI applications and delivery to order food, refreshments and stationery when she is away to work. What shocked her, however, was how easy the adult products appear together with everyday objects, without any gate.
“They were not looking for anything explicit. But these products are still displayed in categories such as toys, chocolates or wellness items,” she said.
Ponsana explained that her contribution was not about shame or moral police, but about the timing and responsible approach. She asked why the delivery app – now part of the children’s digital ecosystems – has no basic parental checks such as those offering platforms such as Netflix, YouTube or Google.
“They are no longer just logistics companies. They are in our kitchens. In our children’s routines. We need a technique that is not just smart, but also safe,” she wrote and urged technology leaders and product leaders to reconsider the safety of users.
The post hit the chord with thousands, triggered the debate online and attracted the attention of the founder Zomato and General Director Deepinder Goyal.
Mr. Goyal, who responded directly to her post, wrote:
“Hi Ponsana – Thank you for sharing it
Since then, interaction has become a viral, and many praised David for launching the necessary conversation around digital parenting in an increasingly technologically dependent world.
“Quite relevant posts and online platforms should have parental control options,” the user wrote.
“Okay. The real problem. He raised the flag. The founder acknowledges and states to correct. This is the strength of cooperation, customer care and responsibility management.
“High Tech vs High Touch. This will increase as soon as technology evolves,” the third user wrote.
