Geological survey of India (GSI) conducts advanced research of rare soils in the West Bengal’s Purulia district, while GSI Asit Saha, CEO of G2, was conducted in two blocks in Assam and West Bengals.
The blocks are located in Purulia and the Anglong Karbi district in Assam and would be prepared for an auction within one year, said Mr. Saha on the secondary track.
The survey at the G2 level shows the advanced phase of the survey, where the occurrence of mineralization is usually analyzed and finally sampled for evaluation of quantity and quality.
Although specific elements of rare soil in blocks have not been specifically identified, the expected presence of “bin 14-17 minerals of rare soils” could cause the extraction process technically demanding, Saha said. He added that Vanado deposits were discovered in the lower Himalayan belt.
According to Mr. Saha, the findings of the ongoing survey in two blocks will be submitted to ministries of mining states and the Ministry of the Ministry of the Union for the subsequent event after the survey is completed.
This development assumes importance due to the various tools of rare soils in the production of defense technologies, electric vehicles, electronics, medical infrastructure, etc. and the ambition of India to strengthen autonomy across sectors such as e-mobility.
