Dukes Ball Dilip Jajodia has criticized the quality of the red ball used in the ongoing test series between England and India. Outbreak of outbreak after the ball was changed twice during the 10-over range on the 2nd day of the third test at Lord’s, which made the player challenge its durability.
Indian players were unhappy when the ball came out quickly and increased concern about its quality. Even a former English cricket, Stuart BroadHe was loud about quality problems that have persisted for some time.
When he talked to PTI, Jajodia defended his product and urged the players to realize how their notes could affect those behind the scenes.
“There are only three recognized manufacturers in the world cricket – Dukes, SG and Kookaburra. It is not easy to make a cricket ball. If it were, there would be hundreds of manufacturers around the world,” he said. “Players must realize that we are not sitting, that we are not doing anything. If there is a problem, we will check it and see if it is a fault with the skin or something else. But people should be careful with criticism. It’s not just me – they are at work.”
He also explained that external factors such as weather, modern gaming styles and stronger bats contribute to the deterioration of the ball. “The weather is the main factor, along with the conditions of playing, the type of cricket and the strength of today’s players. Modern bats are powerful and the balls often hit hard objects beyond. Honestly, it is a miracle that the ball lasts 80 overs,” he said.
Jajodia replied to pointed comments of Indian players like SHUBMAN GILL Success of India in the ongoing series. “With the greatest respect for India, the last game won, their captain scored the most runs, and two pitchers took each six goal. So yes, I’m sorry for the inconvenience – but at least we play cricket.”
As the test series continues, it remains to find out whether ICC, ECB or BCCI take further steps. Meanwhile, the Dukes ball remains under control – as well as its place in the future of the international cricket.
