The extravagant party for about two dozen people in Madhya Pradesh represented a rich menu, including 14 kilograms of dry fruit, 30 kilograms of snacks and a good 9 kilograms of fresh fruit.
The offer for a handful of guests, including the district collector, higher officials, representatives of Panchayat and some villagers, transformed a simple village “Chupal” into a costly matter that almost led £85 000.
She reportedly appeared in the village of Bhadwahi in Shahdol and came to light after the account that was built by Panchayat for payment became viral on social media.
Chupal took place under the mission of the Jal Ganga Samvardhan, an initiative for water protection.
According to the Times of India, the lengthy account for Chupal attracted a probe ordered by no one other than the Collector of the Shahdol district, Kedar Singh, who said that “no dry fruit eat”.

“When they learned these accounts, I ordered a probe headed by the General Director of GoPahar Janpad Panchayat. The event would be accepted against those found guilty,” Singh Toi said.
“It is good if the local residents who were also present at the event were provided food. But how was it possible to use so much dry fruit?” Singh asked.
