
On Thursday, a moving scene developed in the central court when the Dutch player here Verbeek led the crowd of Wimbledon in singing “happy birthday” to his father only moments after securing the mixed doubles in 2025.
Verbeek, playing alongside Czech partner Katerina Siniak, won his first title Grand Slam with 7-6 (3), 7-6 (3) victories over British Joe Salisbury and Brazil Luis Stefani. But what excelled even more than victory was what came on.
During the presentation of the trophy, Verbeek took the microphone and asked the crowd to join him in singing for his father Frank Verbeek, who was sitting in the stalls. The gesture brought an emotional reaction from Frank when the birthday song of the crowd echoed by the central court on a day that she will not forget soon.

The title was not only the first Verbeek Grand Slam, but also only the third trophy of his career. 31 -year -old and Siniak never played before this tournament, but found immediate chemistry. Their run included victory over Top Seeds Harri Heliovaar and Anna Danilina in the first round.
According to reports, one of them did not plan to enter mixed doubles just before the tournament. However, the decision paid off because the couple went all the way without dropping the final.
