New Delhi: Strong links between government agencies and the private sector are the key to managing innovation, diversion from excessive reliance on government funding for research and development, the Minister of Science and Technology Jitendra Singh said on Thursday.
While he released the political Think tank Niti Aayog’s plan to support India’s transformation into a knowledge economy, Singh said that the private sector must increase in innovation financing. Blueprint Niti Aayog focuses on strengthening state sciences and technologies.
Singh said that change in thinking is essential for innovation. “We have to give up excessive reliance on government funding and encourage the pulsating partnership of the public and private sector to unlock innovation on a scale,” the minister said.
Singh is also a state minister in the office of the Prime Minister and the State Minister for Sciences, Personnel, Public Complaints and Pensions and Atomic Energy and Space.
Science and technology in the coming times will be increasingly associated with the future growth of India because the country is rising on the global GDP ranking. Singh, who quoted the Indian digital public infrastructure, said some of the Indian successes have already provided countries of the global recognition of the country.
The Minister said that for playing global roles it is necessary to change thinking only of government funds for research. “Most of the successful scientific businesses around the world do not depend on the government. So we have to get out of this thinking,” the Minister said, adding that the government has its limitations.
The Minister described the recently established National Research Foundation Anusandhan as a changer of games that bridges the gaps between the academic community, industrial and government, facilitating co -creations and joint investment in research. Singh also said that another major revolution will be controlled by biotechnology and India is to lead the world.
Singh, referring to the liberalization of space and nuclear sectors for private participation, said: “With these domains unlocking is only the sky for Indian science.” Singh urged the government to take the role of a facilitator rather than a controller and encourage innovations to be successful.
