The Sumit Kumar district collector urged the parents to play a responsible role in shaping the academic and overall development of their children. The collector, along with the superintendent of the Police (SP) HV Manicant Chandol, attended a meeting of Mega Parents (PTM) 2.0 at the government model school and the Junior University in Rompicherla Mandal on Thursday.
The collector stressed that the state government spends around 5,000 GBP per student every month to provide quality education. “This initiative reflected the vision of the main Minister N. Chandrababa Naid to provide students from an economically weaker environment of education at the level of enterprises,” he said.
The collector described the involvement of parents as essential and informed the parents to regularly attend schools and follow the academic progress of their children. “Parents and teachers should follow every movement of children and protect them from excessive exposure to social media and using mobile phones,” he said. He also warned that despite the best efforts of coercive agencies, the threat of drugs continued to be a threat to society, especially youth and students.
Meanwhile, SP warned parents of the alarming trend that children had become addicted to electronic gadgets and lack of physical activity. “Parents should strictly abandon the acquisition of mobile phones and motorcycles for smaller children. Instead, they should be encouraged to spend time sport and recreation,” he said.
The collector and SP together presented students of Rishith, Bharat Kumar Naida and Veena Vani with “Shining Star”. The duo also launched a plantation ride on the school campus. Later, officials organized an interactive meeting with students.
