The regional parties of J&K, including the ruling national conference (NC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and J&K Apni Party (Jkap), on Thursday (July 10, 2025) to restore the official ceremony to commemorate July 13 as J&K Day.
The elected government of NC, which took over last October, wrote the Governor of Lieutenant J&K MANOJ Sinha to record again on July 13 and December 5, the anniversary of Sheikha Muhammad Abdullaha, because the official holidays followed in practice in 2019.
“We have already written in the LG office to declare 13 and 3 December. Dare, Dare, Dare, Dare, Dare Dare, Dare, Dare, DoremSmard, Dare Doresmare, Doresmard, Dare Dare, Doremsmard, Dare, Doremsmard, at home, DoremSmard, the house, doresmar.
PDP stand
PDP PDP Mehboob Muftti, in the commentary on the transfer of NC to approach Raj Bhawan, said the proposal of the government of Omar Abdullah would bring weight if the speaker supported the PDP solution in the Assembly.
“The direct rejection of the ruling of the speaker was unexpected and disappointing. Today’s exercise looks more like lips than any serious effort,” Mrs. Muftti said.
Last year, when no elected government was introduced, the LG administration rejected the permission to the regional parties to visit the graveyard of the martyrs, also known as Mazar-E-Shuhad, which is located on the Srinagarova Naqshband Sahib Shibine.
Meanwhile, the opposition PDP also organized a meeting in Srinagar in its headquarters to announce the decision to “visit the Honored Mazar-E-Shuhad 13. July to pay tribute to martyrs from 1931”. “13th July is a reminder of the fighting of people against tyranny and injustice,” said PDP vice president Sartaj Madni.
PDP Secretary General Mohammad Khursheed Alam said that the current dispensation “could erase the day as an official holiday, cannot clear the truth or the history it represents”.
PDP leaders said that “no official order can reduce the inheritance of the martyrs or the ideals they stood for”. “Their victims remain etched in the collective memory of people and will continue to inspire future generations,” he said.
Jkap also joins the request
President Jkap Altaf Bukhari also joined the regional parties to declare 13 July “on vacation”. “The elected government should renew the official ceremony to pay the honor of 13 July,” he said.
JKAP also requested permission of the District Administration to participate in prayers in Mazhar-E-Shuhad in Srinagar 13 July.
The martyrs’ day is observed on July 13. In memory of the killing of 22 civilians who were shot in the uprising against the Dogra monarchy in 1931.
