
In the front collision, including a container car and truck on Madurai-toothukuku highway on the Palayambatti Junction in Aruppukottai, three people were killed in the first hours of Thursday (July 10, 2025).
The deceased were identified as S. Muthuraj, 25, Watrap and P. Jayamurugan, 50, from thoothuku. The identity of a third party who managed trucks at the time of the accident has not yet been identified, the police said.
The police said Muthuraj, who was a truck driver, allowed an unidentified third party to drive the vehicle.
As the vehicle approached the Palayambatti intersection, the driver lost control of the wheels. The vehicle suddenly turned right and after the median hit it.
In this process he landed on the road of the opposite lane on which he traveled a container car.
In a fraction of a second, both trucks collided and the cabins of both vehicles were torn and killed all three people inside the cabins in place.
Both vehicles were heavily charged and got involved. The staff of the fire and rescue services from Aruppukottai, led by the officer of the J. Varadaraj station, tried to pull the bodies out of the disheveled remnants of trucks.
The bodies were transported to the government hospital in Aruppukottai.
A crane from Madurai was brought and both vehicles were separated and pushed on the road to clear traffic on the highway.
The Aruppukottai Municipal Police registered the case and further investigations are underway.
