US President Donald Trump on Wednesday (July 9) admitted that he remains sure who ordered the temporary stop of weapons shipments to Ukraine, even after the decision and approval of greater assistance.
“You said yesterday that he wasn’t sure who ordered the ammunition stopped to Ukraine. You’ve been able to figure it out since then?” The reporter asked Trump.
“Well, I didn’t think about it, because we’re looking at Ukraine and ammunition right now. But I – no, I didn’t get into it,” Trump replied.
When it pushes on how such a significant decision could happen without his knowledge, Trump added: “I would know if it was decided. I will know. I will know first.
Conversion after frustration from the Pentagon
On Monday (July 8) Trump said he had approved new defensive weapons for Ukraine in the middle of growing Russian attacks, which is reportedly transferred to the Pentagon to suspend some key shipments.
“We wanted to give defensive weapons because Putin is not – he is not working with human beings correctly. Too many people kill,” Trump told reporters during the cabinet meeting. “So we send some defensive weapons to Ukraine and I approved it.”
When asked who ordered the freezing of last week, Trump deviated, “I don’t know. Why don’t you tell me?”
According to the sources of the cited Associated Press, Trump was privately frustrated by the Pentagon for notifying a pause without proper coordination with the White House. Froaching was reportedly covered by air missiles, the accuracy of artillery and other systems that quoted concerns about the US stock.
Ukraine faces escalated attacks
The delay came to Ukraine at a critical time that faced intensified air attacks with Russian forces. Trump on Monday evening acknowledged the urgency of the situation: “They must be able to defend themselves. Now they are very hard to hit.”
Trump slams Putin
Trump’s tone towards Russian President Vladimir Putin has moved sharply in recent days. After a telephone call between two leaders last week, Trump expressed frustration from what he considered empty promises from Moscow.
“We’ll get a lot of bull—- Putin threw us on us if you want to know the truth,” Trump said during Tuesday’s cabinet meeting. “It’s very nice, but it turned out that it’s not insignificant,” he stopped holding new sanctions.
