The three-phase plan of the relocation of the government manipur for people displaced by a long-drawn conflict lacks clarity and could deepen the abyss between Meitei and Kuki-Zo people, said Congress President Keisham Meghachandra.
He said that the government’s decision to execute the plan by December would only result in moving internally displaced people (IDP) from embossed camps to prefabricated units, both in the Meitei-covered Imphal valleys, as well as in the Polza hills from Kuki-Zo, instead of facilitating their return to their homes.
Thousands of people-Kuki-Zos from the Imphal and Meiteis valley from the surrounding hills-sent after the outbreak of the ethnic conflict in manipuro 3. May 2023.
On July 4, the main secretary of the manipure of PK Singh said that the plan was drawn up with a three -phase resettlement plan. The first of these three phases took place and two more phases would take place in October and December.
“No travel map”
“This relocation plan is unacceptable to Congress because the government is unclear. There is no specific travel map and is designed to deepen the distribution between communities and extend IDP relocation,” said Mr. Meghachandra Hindu during prefabricated houses in Bishhnupur and Saitul.
“There is no effort according to the President’s government to combine these two communities and today is 796. The day from the beginning of the conflict. Sadly, even after two years and two months Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not find time to visit our state or discuss conflict in parliament or elsewhere, as if manipur was not part of India.
The President of the State Congress, which represents the Wangkhem election district in the 60-member assembly, also killed the government for claiming that farmers Meitei and Kuki-Zo “work eyeballs on the eyeball” on the periphery of the Imphal valley began to share water.
“Water has always flowed from the hills to the valley naturally, especially during the monsoon,” he said, insisting that the government should prove the seriousness of thinking about peace to let the community live and share resources.
“The government is responsible for what has happened so far (in manipure), and it has to take care of what will happen. This government of the Prime Minister and Interior Minister AMIT Shah is not serious, not honest,” Meghachandra said.
The main secretary who announced the relocation plan claimed that some of the internally displaced people began to “return”, their number decreased from the initial 62,000 to 57,000.
Those who climbed the embossed camps moved to prefabricated houses, each of which measured 20 feet of 20 feet and 9.3 Lakh. Most of the occupied houses are in the districts of Imphal East and Imphal West.
The Police Housing Corporation Limited Police Manipur was entrusted with the construction of these prefabricated units.
