
Apple named Sabih Khan as his new Operational Director (COO), who took over Jeff Williams, as part of the “long planned sequence”, said the technical giant in his statement on July 8.
Khan, 58, is with Apple for 30 years and is currently a senior vice president of operations in the company. In his current role, Khan oversees the company’s global supply chain, supplier liability programs and operational teams.

“Apple announced today that Jeff Williams would go as the Chief Operating Director at the end of this month at Sabih Khan, Senior Vice President for Apple Operations as part of a long -planned sequence,” Apple declaration read.
The iPhone manufacturer said Khan would take a new role at the end of this month. Before entering the Apple Public Procurement Group in 1995, Khan worked as an application engineer and a key technical account leader in GE Plastics.
Williams will continue to report to the CEO of Tim Cook and supervise the company’s design team and Apple Watch, the company said. “Apple’s designer team then moves directly to Cook after Williams retires at the end of the year,” he read the statement.
Who is Sabih Khan?
Khan was born in 1966 in Moradabad, Western Uttar Pradesh. When he was at school, his family moved to Singapore. A few years later, the family moved to the United States.
Khan won a dual bachelor’s degree in Economics and Mechanical Engineering at Tufts University and Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Renssel Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in New York, Apple said.
Khan joined the Apple public procurement team in 1995 after working in GE Plastics as an engineer engineer. Khan has played a key role in providing Apple’s most innovative products and shaping the company’s global operational strategy, according to Apple.
On June 27, 2019, Khan was appointed senior vice president for operations and reported Jeff Williams. In its role in Apple, the Khan Operational Department is responsible for establishing a partnership with green production suppliers and a change in suppliers’ operations in response to Covid-19 pandemia.

In his welcome statement, Apple CEO, Tim Cook appreciated Khan as a key architect of the Apple Supplier chain. Cook also emphasized its role in managing advanced production technologies and expanding US production.

Cook said Khana’s leadership in the area of environmental sustainability contributed to more than 60 % of Apple’s carbon footprint.
“Sabih is a great strategist who was one of the central architects of the Apple Supplier. While supervising Apple’s supplier chain, he helped the pioneers of new technologies in advanced production, supervising Apple’s production tracks in the United States and helping Apple could be in response to global challenges,” Cook said.
“Especially Sabih leads through the heart and its values and I know that he will make an exceptional operating director,” said Apple CEO.
