US President Donald Trump intensified his criticism of Russian President Vladimir Putin 8.
“We’ll get a lot of bull —- threw Putin on us. If you want to know the truth. It’s very nice, but it turned out that it’s not pointless,” Trump said during the cabinet meeting.
“We are not happy with Putin, I’m not happy with Putin, I can tell you now. Because they kill a lot of people. And many of them are his soldiers.”
Notes indicate a sharp turn for Trump, who in the past often expressed a conciliation tone towards Putin.
Frustration after unsuccessful calls with Putin
Trump has talked to Putin twice in recent weeks, including early July, but interviews could not bring any meaningful progress towards the end of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Renewed attacks on Kiev – including increased drone strikes – came shortly after the Pentagon temporarily stiffened certain shipments of weapons, including the Patriot missile systems.
Trump: “We send defensive weapons”
Despite Trump’s freezing on Tuesday, he confirmed that he had approved the provision of defensive military assistance to Ukraine.
“We wanted to give defensive weapons (Ukraine), because Putin is not – he does not like human beings right. It kills too many people. So we send some defensive weapons to Ukraine and I approved it,” Trump said at a cabinet meeting.
When asked who ordered a pause in weapons’s weapons last week, Trump answered honestly, “I don’t know. Why don’t you tell me?”
Considers the Senate of GOP Sanctions Push
Trump also said he was considering a proposal from Senator Lindsey Graham and other congress Republicans to impose stricter sanctions on Russia in response to increasing violence.
“I’m looking at it, yeah. No, I’m looking at it,” Trump told reporters. When he pushed to sign the measure, he said, “It’s an optional account. It’s absolutely up to my possibilities. They will go through it all by my possibility and ended completely by my possibility. And I look at it very hard.”
