
According to preliminary forensic reports published on Tuesday, July 8, Portuguese footballer Diogo Jota was probably accelerated.
“The forensic team analyzes signs that have left one of the wheels of the car on the asphalt that indicate the tire bursting and whether it and excessive speed caused the accident,” police said in a statement to Reuters. The final results will be submitted to the local court before publishing.
Jota death at the age of 28 has sent shock waves to the football world even outside. His brother, And Silva-so professional footballer-was with him in the car when he turned off the road and burst into flames shortly after midnight on Thursday. Both were reportedly on their way to a ferry in Spain, tied to Britain.

Within five seasons he scored 65 goals and played a key role in Liverpool 2021-22 FA Cup and the League Cup victory. He was also part of the team that raised the Premier League title last year.
On the international scene Jota earned 49 caps for Portugal and was part of the team that won this year’s UEFA Nations League. His final performance came in the Nations League final, where Portugal defeated Spain to claim its second title.
Just 10 days before the accident, Jota married his long -time partner, Rute Cardoso, at a ceremony held in Porto. The couple shared pictures of wedding on social media and celebrated this opportunity with friends and family.
Honor was poured after his death. Portuguese captain Cristiano Ronaldo and former manager Liverpool Jrgen Klopp were among those who offered condolences, while his funeral was attended by many Jota’s Club and national teammates. On Tuesday, Liverpool’s ARNE manager, defender Andy Robertson and the CEO of Fenway Sports Group, Michael Edwards, visited on Tuesday to put flowers in honor of the late striker.
Diogo Jota and And Andre Silva were laid on Saturday in their hometown Gondomar, northern Portugal.
