The gas leak from the stove launched a strong explosion, on Tuesday afternoon on Tuesday afternoon pulled out the house and left an older pair with serious burns at the Velangallur crossroads.
The couple, Ravindran (70 years) and his wife Jayashree, 60, reportedly left for the morning. After returning in the afternoon, when they opened the door and turned on the light, there was a sudden explosion and the flames absorbed Jayashree. Ravindran also suffered burns and tried to save it. Both were rushed by the locals to the private hospital in Thrissur, where they remain in critical condition.
It is assumed that the fire began due to gas leakage from the tube connecting the LPG cylinder (maintained outside the house) with a kitchen stove, causing gas to accumulate inside the house. The explosion probably occurred when the electric switch lowered the spark.
The house was completely destroyed in the fire. Fire and rescue services from Irinjalakuda, together with the police and the locals, arrived quickly and the fire under control.
