
The new Delhi, 8 July (PTI) of car creators, hope that India will soon conclude a business agreement with the US, which, according to an industrial official, is a one -time market for Indian manufacturers.
The official also stated that the government regularly consults the Auto Components industry in the middle of the ongoing interviews on the interim trade agreement between India and the USA.
Comments came against the background of the US that suspended mutual tariffs within 1 August. The previous deadline ended on July 9th.
India was not included in the list of countries that received tariff letters from Trump’s administration on Monday.
“… Our name is not in the list of 14 countries and we hope that, as you know, they have been able to come out with the agreement,” said CEO of the ACMA Association (ACMA) Vinnie Mehta.
“I have no insight into what the outlines of the agreement would be. It may be shortened, but then there would also be a second phase. That’s what I understand,” he added.
Mehta also said that the government regularly consults the Auto Parts industry for the proposed agreement and added that “people on the other hand are not so easy”.
North America is the largest export market for automobile industry and represented 32 % of total exports of cars in FY25.
The market has witnessed an 8 % growth compared to the last fiscal.
Overall, the export of automotive components increased by 8 percent to $ 22.9 billion ( £1.92 346 crore) last fiscal compared to $ 21.2 billion ( £1,75,960 crore) in FY 2023-24.
