Minister of Agriculture K. Atchannaidu urged the central government to prolong strong support to revive the agricultural sector in the state.
On Monday, Mr. Atchannaida met with the Minister of Agriculture Union Shivraj Singh Chouhan and pushed to reduce GST to mango pulp from 12% to 5%, emphasizing the need for farmers in Chittoor, Tirupati and Annamayya.
Later, when he spoke to reporters, he criticized the previous YSRCP government led by Yagan Mohan Reddy for neglecting farmers and could not use the central schemes claiming to have led to extensive damage to the agricultural sector. He noted that almost 64% of the Andhra Pradesh population depends on agriculture and allied activities.
Renewal of courses
In the key development, the Minister announced that the center had approved the renewal of the third and fourth BVSC. and AH courses at the veterinary college of Gaividi under the Veterinary University of Sri Venkateswara at 2022–23 and 2023–24, after two years.
Mr. Atchannaidu accused Mr. Jagan of the presentation of political events under the guise of a condolence visit, requiring misuse of funds and mobilizing crowds from outside. He warned that the government would not tolerate any public order disruption.
The Minister emphasized the recent support for farmers in Mango and said that 3.5 lakh tons of manga was obtained for 12 GBP for kg and a design of 130 Crore was sent to the center as part of the market intervention system. He rejected the demands on the lack of fertilizers and stated that more than 8.73 Lakh tons were available in stock.
He urged the farmers not to believe that the leadership of YSRCP to expand misinformation, assure that the government was taking timely steps and ensuring that fertilizers were available through private dealers, companies and Ryth Seva Kendras. He warned that merchants creating an artificial deficiency or the sale of fertilizers over MRP would face a strict action. He repeated the commitment of the government to return the agriculture sector to the path of cooperation between the center.
