In Belagavi, up to eight colors of bridges in Belagavi are immersed due to increased release of water from the Maharashtra into the River Krishn and its tributaries.
Bridge-Cum-Barras in Mallikwad, Bhoj, Examba, Bharwad, Kunnur, Hrarat, Kallol and Manjari are underwater.
Meanwhile commuting, they started using alternative routes after the police walked through the roads.
Minister Satish Jarkiholi visited the Kudchi bridge between Ugar and Kudchi. Officers told him that the release of water from Mahashtra is likely to exceed 1.1 Lakh Cusecs (10 TMCFT).
He ordered revenue officers and irrigation to maintain constant communication with their counterparts in the Mahari to be warned of sudden release of water and other questions.
“In the last few days, the water level of Krishna has increased. Although there is no immediate danger of flooding, we must be careful,” he said.
He said that a new and higher bridge is being built on the spot and the work will be completed in a year.
Irrigation officials increased the drain from the Lal Bahadur Shastri tank to Krišná in Almatti to 1.15 Lakh Cusecs. The tide was measured at 1.1 Lakh Cusecs. The dam has 88.37 TMCft water or 71% full of the tank 123 TMCFT.
The Basava Sagar dam in Narayanpur received an tide of about 1.15 lakh Cusecs, while the drain was 1.12 Lakh Cusecs. The dam has 27.054 TMCft water or 81.21% full capacity of 33.31 TMCft.
Raja Lakhamagouda nad Ghataprabha in Hidkal has 38.61 TMCft water against full capacity of 51 TMCFT. The dam recorded the tide of 19 746 CUSECS and a drain of 1,465 CUSECS.
Renuka Sagar dam on Malaprabha received the tide 9 437 CUSECS and drain 194 Cusecs with water. The dam has 21.6 TMCft water against full capacity of 37.31 TMCFT.
