
New Delhi: On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for urgent reforms for global “administrative institutions”, emphasizing the need to provide developing countries a stronger voice in international decision -making.
Modi, such as the 17th BRICS summit in Rio de Janeiro, said that institutions such as the UN Security Council, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank and the World Trade Organization (WTO) must be reworked to reflect the reality of the 21st century.
“He stressed that the global organizations of the 20th century lacked the ability to solve the 21st century challenges, emphasized (Modi) the need for their reform,” said the Prime Minister’s office (PMO).
The Prime Minister, who called on the multipolar and inclusive world order, said that the institutions of the global administration must undergo urgent reforms to reflect contemporary reality.

Modi reaffirmed India’s obligation to represent the interests of the global south and called for reinforced support for developing countries through improved access to financing and climate technology.
The Indian Prime Minister also thanked BRICS leaders for emphasizing the urgency of the UN Security Council and the adoption of a strong language in this matter in the summit statement.
Last week, Finance Minister Nirmala Sithaman reaffirmed India’s commitment to advance in global southern priorities, deepen strategic ties and promote greater cooperation in BRICS during a meeting with her Brazilian and Russian counterparts on the outskirts of the peak in Rio de Janeiro.
Modi also called for a new development bank (NDB) grouping BRICS to accept access controlled by demand and ensure long -term sustainability in project financing.

Modi, who spoke at a special session of strengthening multilateralism, economic affairs and artificial intelligence, said that when the world faced with growing geopolitical and economic challenges, BRICS must lead to build a more balanced, multipolar global order.
“He said that at a time when the world order was under pressure and a global community facing uncertainty and challenges, the meaning of BRIC was obvious,” PMO said.
“He added that BRICS can play an important role in shaping the multipolar world,” he added.
NDB, formerly BRICS Development Bank, was founded in 2014 by Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa to mobilize infrastructure and sustainable development projects.
It serves in Shanghai and serves as an alternative to Western institutions such as the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.

In terms of peace and security, Modi condemned terrorism as one of the most significant threats facing humanity, and noted that the terrorist attack 22. April in Pahalgam was not only an attack on India, but the onslaught of all humanity.
“The Prime Minister, who called for a strong global action against terrorism, noted that these financing, promotion or provision of safe paradises must be solved by the most common conditions. He also stressed that there should be no double standards in terrorism,” the statement said.
“BRICS has called on the global struggle against terrorism, stressed that there should be zero tolerance to solve threat,” he added.

The leaders accepted the Declaration of Rio de Janeiro, called for inclusive global institutions, a unified action against terrorism and cooperation on climate financing, critical minerals and responsible AI (artificial intelligence).
