
In the middle of the diarrhea of the outbreak in the district of Ganjam in Odisha, two people died and over 140 became ill.
The first cases were reported from the village of Ustapalli in the Digapahandi block on Saturday, according to the PTI report, which quoted officials on Monday.
Two people have died in the last three days, while 10 patients have been moved to MKCG Medical College and Berhampura Hospital, as their conditions deteriorated, the officials said.
The exact cause of the focus is not yet known and the local authorities sent samples of water from the village for testing.
“On Sunday we sent water samples for testing. The message is expected by Tuesday,” said PTI block doctor.
A team of doctors and medical staff was sent to the village after the first cases were announced, said the Chief District Hospital (CDMO) Sukant Kumar Nayak and added that the situation is now under control.
Awareness of supporting hygienic procedures was also started in the village, he added.
Meanwhile, Digapahandi Mla Sidhant Mohapatra visited the affected village on Sunday.
Last month, hundreds of people fell ill after the outbreak of diarrhea in Jajpur, the capital of Rajasthan.

Three people died and five others were hospitalized last week due to symptoms of diarrhea and vomiting, allegedly after consuming contaminated water in the village of Tippanadagi, Yadgir district, PTI reported on Monday with a feeling of official sources.
However, a health officer in Yadgir said that the deceased suffers from various other diseases and their death may not be directly associated with water contamination.
He added that five hospitalized individuals are now in stable state.
A team of medical officials was placed in the village and carefully monitors the situation.
