
Most of the world’s population is not properly represented in key global institutions, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Sunday (July 6, 2025) and addressed colleagues from the emerging nations at the BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro.

The BRICS leaders’ declaration, adopted at the Summit in the Brazilian city on Sunday (July 6, 2025), reflected the key concerns of India, especially about cross -border terrorism and reforms of global administration.
The Prime Minister, who noted that global south often faced “two standards”, demanded a greater role in the development world in international decision -making and spoke at the BRICS meeting on “Peace and Security and Reform of Global Administration”.

“Two -thirds of humanity still lack proper representation in global institutions built in the 20th century. Many countries that play a key role in today’s global economy must still be given in the decision -making table. It is not only representation but also credibility and efficiency,” Modi said.
The Prime Minister welcomed the BRIC expansion and said it shows the ability to “evolve with time”.
At the “Peace and Security and Reform of Global Administration”, during the BRICS summit, India has repeated the commitment of peace and fraternity. Finally, world peace and security are the basics of our shared interests and the future.

BRICS condemns the Pahalgam attack
The reflection of some of the main Indian concerns in India, the statement received by the BRICS leaders, condemned the terrorist attack 22. April in the Pahalgam Jammu and Kashmir in the “strongest terms” and called on the “representative” international order. BRICS leaders expressed their commitment to fight terrorism, including “cross” terrorism, and called on the “rapid completion” of the comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism within the UN. The leaders also welcomed Indonesia as a new BRICS member and described Israel-USA military strikes against Iran as a violation of international law and the UN Charter.

“We express a strong condemnation of any terrorist acts as criminal and unimportable, regardless of their motivation, whenever and whom they committed. We condemn the terrorist attack in Jamm and Kashmir on April 2225, terrorists, terrorism financing and safe refuge. The conviction of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which led to the repressive strikes of India at the destination in Pakistan.
Supports Palestinian rights
The declaration described the Gaza belt as the “inseparable” part of the occupied Palestinian territory. “In this respect, we emphasize the importance of unifying the West Bank and the Gaza Gaza belt under the Palestinian authority and reaffirm the right of the Palestinian people to self -determination, including the right to their independent state of the Palestine,” he said.

He also called for “complete withdrawal of the Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip and all other parts of the occupied Palestinian territory” and called for Hamas to release “all hostages and detained persons violating international law”.
“Attack on Iran violated international law”
The declaration of leaders BRICS described Israel-USA attack on Iran as “violation of international law and the UN Charter”. The leaders expressed “serious concerns” on attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities that have marked “intentional”. The statement added: “Nuclear warranty, safety and safety must always be followed, including armed conflicts to protect people and the environment from damage.”
Terrorism in Syria also paid attention from the leaders of BRICS who condemned the violence and killing of civilians Isil (Daesh) and al-Qaeda-entangled terrorist groups in the country.
Defends the reform of UNSC
The Declaration of the BRICS leaders has seen Russia and China’s support – both permanent members of the UN Security Council – for “aspirations of Brazil and India to play a larger role in the UN, including his security advice”.

Existing members welcomed the new partner countries BRICS – Belarus, Bolivia, Kazakhstan, Cuba, Nigeria, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Uganda and Uzbekistan – and called for the “dialogues and consultations” between developing countries. “We believe that the BRICS countries continue to play a key role in expressing concern and the priorities of the global south and also support fairer, more sustainable, more inclusive, representative and stable international order based on international law,” the statement said. It also supported the development and deployment of artificial intelligence technologies for sustainable development and inclusive growth.
