
The International Criket Council (ICC) announced the appointment of Sanjog Gupt on Monday as its new CEO (CEO). Gupta will officially take over the fee of July 7, 2025 and becomes the seventh person holding the place.
Gupta, the veteran of the Indian sports and media ecosystem, currently serves as the CEO of Sports & Live Experience in Si -Taro. With more than two decades of experience across content, strategies and operations, it was widely attributed to the formation of a modern sports broadcast in India.
ICC chairman Jay Shah welcomed the appointment of Gupta and called him a visionary leader whose expertise would show up in the next stage of the growth of the organization.
“Sanjog brings extensive experience in sports strategy and commercialization, which will be invaluable to ICC,” Shah said. “His deep understanding of global sports, media and entertainment, along with his passion for technology and perspective of cricket fan, will be necessary because we are trying to expand cricket reach-especially the Olympic integration on the horizon.”
Gupta was appointed after a strict global recruitment process that attracted more than 2,500 applicants from 25 countries. After several rounds of narrower selection, the ICC nomination committee, which consisted of Imran Khwaja, Richard Thompson, Shammi Silva and Devyit Saikia, unanimously recommended Gupta. The decision was later ratified by the complete ICC album.
In his first remarks, after he was appointed Director of Designate, Gupta described his new role as the “privilege” and emphasized his obligation to take cricket in the new borders.
“These are exciting times for sports when the events of the awning grow in the character, commercial journeys will spread and opportunities such as the scale of the female game in popularity,” Gupta said. “The integration of cricket in the La28 Olympic Games and rapid technological progress is the possibilities of changing games. I look forward to close cooperation with the ICC Member Councils to expand the global footprint and increase the experience of fans.”
Gupta launched her journalist’s career and joined Star India in 2010 and joined the ranks to lead her sports business. Since 2020, the Sports Head of Disney Star has helped manage innovations such as multiple languages, digital first programming and female coverage, significantly increasing the popularity of real estate such as IPL, ICC and home leagues such as ISL and PKL.
Gupta was appointed CEO of South Sports in November 2024 after the merger of Viacom18 and Disney Star, which led the consolidated sports media.
