The Indian Best Investigation Agency, CBI, revealed one of the largest fraud in education concerning medical faculties.
Nationwide missile exposed in medical education
Thirty -four powerful people are charged, including the famous spiritual leader (Godman) on behalf of Ravi Shankar Mahara, former head of DP Singh education and several governmental health officials. These people are suspected of accepting huge bribes to help private medical faculties illegally to obtain approval.
Fraud worked in many countries like Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh. It started when CBI arrested three doctors for accepting £55 Lakh (about $ 65,000) to provide good news about the university inspection led by Godman’s confidence.
False teachers, bribery officials and temple funds uncovered
According to reports, the heart of fraud was within the Indian Ministry of Health itself. Eight officials secretly photographed confidential ensembles and escaped the date of the inspection and the names of officers to manage universities for large bribes.
For example, a university register named Mayur Raval allegedly accused £25-30 Lakh Share details of the secret inspection.
Godman allegedly contacted the former educational manager of Singh to influence the reports, which was then sent by the assistant for this work. With these escape details, universities could cheat on insights by evaluating, hire fake teachers or even admit patients to show that everything is fine.
Universities used shocking tricks to deceive inspectors. In Indore’s Medical College, Suresh Bhadoria chairman used temporary attendance to fingerprints of doctors fingerprints.
Southern universities paid agents such as Andhra’s Hari Prasad to arrange “figurine teachers” during the inspections. One college director in Visakhapatnam paid £50 lakh while another in Warangal spent £4 crore in bribes. Illegal money was moved by secret networks of Hawala. In a bizarre reversal, part of the bribes – held by an official on behalf of the Jeet Lal Meena, was used to create and £75 Lakh Hanuman Temple in Rajasthan.
CBI calls this one of the worst Indian fraud in medical education and affects over 40 universities across the country. While eight people have already been arrested, including three doctors and university director, the probe continues.
The agency found that the ministry officials, inspection teams, agents and college bosses cooperated as a criminal network.
This fraud threatened the quality of medical education and let unskilled universities work.
CBI promises more steps as Hawala is watching money and examining all the accused, including the highly profiles of Godman and the former UGC chief. Meanwhile, it shows how deep corruption has spread in the regulation of medical faculties.
