Airani Mohammad Khan was appointed new vice -chairman of Karnatak University, Dharwad (KUD), who in the last nine months did not have a full -time deputy chairman.
Governor and Chancellor of the University, Thaawwarchand Gehlot, issued orders on Saturday and appointed prof. Am Khan for the new vice -chairman of the second oldest university of the state.
Am Khan will organize an office for four years or until it reaches the age of 67, depending on what is before.
Prof. Before his appointment, Khan was the head of the professor and chairman of the Ministry of Studies and research in the field of electronics and the director of planning and the Council for Evaluation (PMEB), the Center for the Development of Skills at Mangalore University. He will probably take the lead on Monday.
Despite the increasing pressure on the appointment of a full -time vice -chairman at the university after retirement of the previous vice -rector Gudasi, this process was delayed by the government and the search committee was appointed only in April. A total of 187 candidates from different universities asked for a popular post. After retirement prof. Gudasi and until the appointment of VC full -time Varsity was included by the Vice -Chairman.
Khan has had 30 years of teaching and research since 1994 and 20 years of administrative experience. He worked as a registrar, registrar (evaluation), SSYNDICATE member, Academic Council, Committee Finance, etc. between December 2015 to March 2020.
Since 1999 he has also been chairman of 25 committees and members of 40 committees at Mangalore University and the Karnataka government. The positions that served include the Director, the Skills Development Center; Director, computer center, center of interaction of the university industry; IBM incubation center; Coordinator E – Administration; IT coordinator Govt. Karnataka, as a member of the expert committee for the development of software for Kea and chairman / member of different bodies at 12 different universities.
Khan has more than 200 paper publications, 10 research projects in cooperation with industry and two main projects of sponsored DST and BRNS. In 2013 he also received two awards for the best teacher and in 2021.
