On Friday, the tension expanded in Thrissur as a protest march of Muslim youth (I had a mistake) to the district physician, which demanded the resignation of Minister of Health Veena George, met police water cannons. The protest, organized against the background of the death of a woman in the collapse of the building on Kottayam Medical College, was against the alleged apathy of the government in the medical sector.
The march, led by the District Youth Committee, began near the northern stand and was blocked by police barricades on St. Thomas College Road. When the protesters tried to break the barricades, the police deployed the water to the crowd.
My state vice president Faisal Bafaqi Thangal started protest and said that Minister of Health should be considered to be a woman’s death. “Mrs. Veena George is the main accused of collapse. She laid Keral’s health care on the fan,” he said, promising that the youth league would stay on the streets until he resigned. March was chaired by District President Am Sanaufal.
Bjym phases protest
On a symbolic protest against what they called the collapse of the Keral’s medical system, Bharatiya Janat Yuva Morch organized a demonstration in the office of the District Medical Officer (DMO) in Thrissur and held Secretary of Health Veena George responsible for the tragic death of a woman.
As a sign of protest, a wreath was placed on the DMO chair, symbolizing the alleged “death” of public health care in the state. The protest began with the President of the Bjym Sabish Maruthayur district.
