Reddit shared how his nurse, a college student in Gujarat faced discrimination for housing in Gandhinagar. She rented an apartment 3bhk with two friends, paid a broker and moved her stuff.
The broker assured them that he would not rent any rent as an unmarried girl. However, before they could sign a rent agreement, the neighbor complained to the builder. The man demanded that the apartment be rented to “free girls”.
Although the landlord had no problem, the builder refused to leave them. When the girl tried to talk to the neighbor and explain, he roughly disconnected the call and blocked her. Now they have to carry additional moving costs and look for a new place just before the start of college.
