Lokesh highlights AP reforms and offers Visakhapatnam AirTrunk

IT and Human Resource Development Minister Nara Lokesh met Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in Mumbai on Monday and briefed him on the investments Andhra Pradesh has attracted in the last two years, focusing on the government’s emphasis on speed of doing business. He also outlined the reforms undertaken in the education sector and the state’s skill development initiatives.

Mr. Lokesh sought details of the best practices and successful policies being implemented by the Maharashtra government in the IT and education sector.

Earlier in the day, Mr. Lokesh met with Robin Khuda, CEO of AirTrunk, a leading operator of hyperscale data centers with facilities around the world. He said Visakhapatnam is rapidly emerging as a hub for artificial intelligence and hyperscale data centers, with projects such as Google AI Hub, Reliance AI Data Center and AdaniConneX currently under development.

Mr. Lokesh said the government’s aim is to create 6 GW of data center capacity in the port city and urged AirTrunk to consider setting up one of its future campuses in Visakhapatnam. He highlighted the city’s business-friendly ecosystem, strategic location and logistical advantages. Mr. Khuda assured him that the company would look into the proposals made by the Andhra Pradesh government.
