Toshiba Transmission & Distribution Systems (India) (TTDI) has supplied its own developed 132kV m-GIS system to Power Grid Corporation of India (POWERGRID).
The development and delivery of the 132 kV m-GIS system marks another major milestone in its ongoing efforts to expand its portfolio of domestic mobile high voltage solutions in India, the company said on Monday.
It follows the delivery of India’s first 220kV m-GIS system to the same customer a few months ago. TTDI, which has its advanced manufacturing facility at Rudraram near Hyderabad, said it is at an advanced stage of development of its domestic 400kV m-GIS system, which will be delivered later this year.
A compact, highly mobile solution, the domestic 132kV m-GIS system was developed and engineered in India “reflecting our strong commitment to the government’s ‘Make in India’ mission. It utilizes Toshiba technology and local engineering capabilities,” said CMD Hiroshi Furuta.
The system features a standardized “Connect–Operate–Disconnect–Redeploy” configuration that significantly increases agility and operational flexibility within the network. It is designed to fit standard shipping trailers, withstand mechanical vibration and shipping stress, maintain critical electrical clearances and support seamless integration on live projects, the company said.
Last year, TTDI inaugurated a new CRGO core processing center and surge arrester line with plans to expand EHV transformer capacity. It also signed a memorandum of understanding with the Telangana government to invest ₹562 million in the plant as part of Toshiba’s wider ¥55 billion investment to boost manufacturing capacity in India and Japan.
