
India and Ghana have increased their ties to the level of a comprehensive partnership, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi reaffirmed that the new Delhi is a common traveler in the African nation’s development route.

Mr. Modi made notes on Wednesday (July 2, 2025) after conducting extensive interviews with Ghansk President John Dramani Mahama.
In his media statement, Prime Minister Modi stated that both parties set the goal of double -way trade in the next five years and that India is not only a partner, but a collaborator on a development trip in Ghana.
The meeting at the level of the delegation between two leaders took place for hours after Modi arrived in this capital of the West African country at the first stage of his five -story tour.
In a special gesture, the Prime Minister at the airport was admitted by President Maham. It is the first visit to Prime Minister from India to Ghana in three decades.
After Modi-Mahama’s interviews, both parties ordered four contracts to ensure cooperation in several areas, including culture and traditional medicine.
“Today we have decided to promote our bilateral partnership to a comprehensive partnership,” Modi said, adding, “India is not just a partner, but a co -creator in the Ghanaian journey of building a nation.” The Prime Minister also emphasized the rise in business relations between the two countries.
“Indian companies have invested nearly $ 2 billion in about 900 projects. Today we set the goal of doubled our mutual trade in the next five years,” he said.
“In the field of Fintech, India is ready to share its experience with UPI digital payments with ghana,” he said.

The Prime Minister also stated that Indian companies would cooperate in the examination and mining of critical minerals.
The Prime Minister said that both parties were unanimous, that terrorism is the enemy of humanity and that it was decided to further strengthen mutual cooperation in the fight against the threat.
“We are unanimous that terrorism is the enemy of humanity. We thank Ghana for his cooperation in our fight against terrorism,” Modi said.
“In this context, we decided to further strengthen mutual cooperation in the fight against terrorism,” he said.
In the area of defense and safety, we will move forward with the mantra “Solidarity safety”, he added.
India-Gana cooperation will be strengthened in areas such as armed forces training, maritime security, defense and cyber security, added.
The Prime Minister said both parties expressed serious concerns about conflicts in West Asia and Europe and called on finding solutions through dialogue and diplomacy.
“This is not an era of war; problems should be solved by dialogue and diplomacy,” Modi said.
Both leaders also touched questions that are facing global south.
“We are both members of the global south and we are fully determined by our priorities. We thank Ghana for her positive participation in Global South Summit,” Modi said.
“For India, it is a matter of pride that the African Union has gained permanent G20 membership in our Presidency of G20,” he added.
Modi called interviews with President Mahama “very fruitful” and said in paper X: “We increased our ties to a comprehensive partnership that will benefit the inhabitants of our nations. We discussed ways to improve business and economic ties. India and Ghana also see a huge scope of close work in areas such as critical minerals, defense, maritime safety and energy, adding that it was also discussed in strengthening cultural ties.

Two -sided relations between India and Ghana, one of the fastest growing economies in West Africa, are characterized by robust business and investment partnerships.
India is one of the best business partners in Ghana and is the biggest goal for Ghana’s export, driven mainly by the import of gold of India.
Ghana is undergoing the main economic restructuring and Prime Minister Modi in this respect assured the country of all possible help.

The Prime Minister was awarded the “Officer of the Order of the Star Ghana”, the national honor of the country, for its “significant nationality and influential global leadership”.
Mr. Modi received the prize from Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahamas.
“It is an honor to be awarded to” the Officer of the Order of the Star Ghana “,” the Prime Minister said in X Post.

In his speech, Mr. Modi said that the price was a matter for him great pride and honor.
“I humbly accept the prize on behalf of 140 Indians of the Crore,” he said, giving it to the ambitions and clear future of the youth of both countries, their rich cultural traditions and diversity and historical ties between Ghana and India.
“This honor is also responsible; still working on the stronger friendship of India-Gana. India will always stand with people from Ghana and will continue to contribute as a trustworthy friend and development partner,” he said in post X.
