India-Gana signed four mous
India and Ghana signed four memorandum on understanding (mous) on Wednesday to strengthen bilateral cooperation in key areas such as culture, health, standardization and institutional dialogue.
The agreements were signed after interviews at the delegation level between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Ghanaian President John Mahama in Akkra.

The Secretary (Economic Relations) of Damm Ravi, who dealt with press briefing after a meeting, said that Mous had covered cultural exchange, traditional medicine, cooperation of standards and the establishment of a common commission.
“After the delegation level interviews, four memorandums were signed, one to create a common commission at the level of the foreign authority. The other is traditional medicine, where there is room for both parties to exchange professional training.
The four memorandum of understanding signed between India and Ghana is the Cultural Exchange program (CEP), which aims to support greater cultural understanding and exchanges in the fields of art, music, dance, literature and heritage.

The second memorandum signed between the Indian standards (BIS) and the Ghana Standards Office (GSA) seeks to strengthen cooperation in the field of standardization, certification and conformity evaluation.
The third agreement was signed between the Institute of Traditional and Alternative Medicine (ITAM), Ghana and the Institute of Teaching and Research in Ayurveda (ITRA) in India to facilitate cooperation in education, training and research of traditional medicine.
The fourth memorandum concerns a meeting of the common commission aimed at institutionalizing a high level dialogue and ensuring regular reviews of bilateral cooperation mechanisms.

The Prime Minister also emphasized the rise in business relations between the two countries.
“Indian companies have invested nearly $ 2 billion in about 900 projects. Today we set the goal of doubled our mutual trade in the next five years,” he said.
“In the field of Fintech, India is ready to share its experience with UPI digital payments with ghana,” he said.
The Prime Minister also stated that Indian companies would cooperate in the examination and mining of critical minerals.
The Prime Minister said that both parties were unanimous, that terrorism is the enemy of humanity and that it was decided to further strengthen mutual cooperation in the fight against the threat.
“We are unanimous that terrorism is the enemy of humanity. We thank Ghana for his cooperation in our fight against terrorism,” Modi said.
“In this context, we decided to further strengthen mutual cooperation in the fight against terrorism,” he said.
In the area of defense and safety, we move forward with the mantra “Solidarity”, he added.
India-Gana cooperation will be strengthened in areas such as armed forces training, maritime security, defense and cyber security, added.
The Prime Minister said both parties expressed serious concerns about conflicts in West Asia and Europe and called on finding solutions through dialogue and diplomacy.
Minister Dammu Ravi also confirmed that Prime Minister Modi agreed to support Ghana in the field of agriculture.
“During the discussions, Ghana’s President Maham has been looking for Indian cooperation in agriculture … Entrepreneurs who will be able to develop Ghana as a food basket and ensure food security of his people. PM Modi agreed to support Ghana in this effort,” he said.

Both leaders also discussed strengthening cooperation in pharmaceuticals with a focus on strengthening the capacity of the vaccine production in Ghana.
“The second item was in the field of pharmaceuticals and vaccines. President Maham is interested in creating the Ghana Center for Vaccines. Some development has already taken place in cooperation with a global vaccine alliance.
This means the first visit to the Indian Prime Minister to Ghana in more than three decades. The visit is expected to significantly deepen the partnership in India-Ghana and signals the constant involvement of India with Africa and the global south.
