The Directorate for enforcement (ED) attacked two places on Wednesday in connection with the money laundering probe against the former planning official Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) and Minister of Telangana Rera Shiva Balakrishn. The raids were carried out in his residence in Rajendranagar and in his brother Naven Kumar in Chanakya Nagar, Medchal.
ED sources have confirmed that documents concerning real estate and financial transactions were confiscated during the operation. This search stems from a report on the recovery case (ECIR) registered under the Act on Money Winding (PMLA) ED last year after entry from the anti -corruption office (ACB).
The ED action comes months after ACB arrested Mr. Balakrishny and his brother 25 January in the event of a disproportionate assets (DPA). ACB officials attacked 17 seats, including relatives and collaborators, leading to seizure of assets worth over 8.26 Crore, according to government estimates.
January search led to restore 99.60 GBP in cash, more than 2 kg of gold, 6 kg of silver ornaments and documents aimed at assets worth 5.96 crore. ACB officials said the market value of these assets is likely to be significantly higher.
Balakrishna, who also worked as the director of Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), is accused of accumulating wealth through dubious means and the use of his official position. ACB caused sections 13 (1) (a). B) and 13 (2) of the 1988 Corruption Act against him.
