The Thiruvananthapuram CGST zone in Kerala has achieved remarkable growth, with an 18% increase in GST income and a 14% increase in central consumer collections. According to SK, Rahman, the main commissioner, central taxes and central excise taxes, Kerala Zone (former common secretary, GST Council), the performance in sharp contrast to a modest 5% growth recorded in the previous year.

GST income collection in the first two months of FY 2025-26 increased with an increase in growth by 18% and central income of excise duty with a rate of growth of 14%. According to the latest income trends, GST collections showed by May 2025 in the financial year 2025–26 significant growth by 18%, which increased from 3,238 GBP Crore in the same period of the previous year (FY 2024–25) to 3,826 GBP.
Similarly, central consumer revenue has also seen a growth of 14%, with collections growing from 4,433 Crore to May 2024 to 5,056 Crore in the corresponding period of FY 2025–26. These figures indicate the positive dynamics of indirect tax collection, which reflect both economic activity and improved compliance. At national level, GST revenues for May 2025 touched 2.01 GBP Lakh Crore, reflecting a robust 16.4% year -on -year increase of 1.72 lakh crore in May 2024.
The success of Kerala GST is based on quiet care, timely action and approach focused on taxpayers, said Mr. Rahman. He also stressed that the journey in front of Kerala is one of the higher, deepening reach and receiving the digital economy. When India’s eyes eyes 5 trillion dollars of GDP, GST will be at a core allowing inclusive growth, fiscal health and taxpayers’ confidence, he added.
