Zumba, a fitness program that mixes live music and dance movements, has existed for years, but now it is in the center of the main line that will again build some Muslim organizations against the state government.
The Government has launched a Zumba program in schools this academic year to promote the physical and mental health of students and in a step with his drug campaign “with children and youth”, which tried to direct the interests and energy of students from drugs to positive alternatives.
This was followed by a meeting convened by the Chief Minister of Pinaraya Vijayan by representatives of student and youth organizations, teachers and parent organizations, experts from various fields and ministers at the State Assembly on March 30 to prepare an action plan to reduce the increase in addictive substances among students and youth.
The main minister then proposed Zumba as a way to alleviate many stress that the students faced and ordered the General Education Minister V. Sivankutty to deal with its implementation in the new academic year.
Mr. Sivanku said that in the afternoon there would be some form of exercise in schools to revive the students and improve their mental and physical well -being. Later, Mega Zumba announced 1,000 students in the state capital 30 April to create awareness of drug abuse and give more importance to physical activity in the school curriculum.
The General Education Department also provided training to teachers of Zumba session by class VIII. Since the government laid more health and physical education in the curriculum, more time was assigned to physical activity in the schedule.
The State Council for Educational Research and Training Director JayAprakash RK said that Zumba is also part of a revised school curriculum. It was included in the new textbooks of art education and physical education class VIII.
After criticizing the Zumba program of the Association of Teachers Keral School (KSTA), she questioned the claim that there was no discussion. He pointed out that those who decided were to attend a meeting presented by the main minister earlier or in writing stated their views.
Keral Pradesh, the Association of Kerala Pradesh, said the Zumba session organization was not insufficient to prevent children from reversing to abuse of addictive substances. More meaningful and efficient strategies had to be implemented, especially if synthetic drugs were increasingly available.
Zumba remains controversy, remaining popular fitness activity. Its attraction lies in the rhythmic music and model of the Fitness group, which forces one another, says Rashmi Kishhore, instructor.
Rashmi says it is a disguise exercise, something you do without being aware of it, especially if someone doesn’t like practicing alone. A piece of its clientele is the middle age for which regular and consistent physical activity is a mantra for good health. It is also a good stress, especially for those who work on high -pressure tasks, says Rashmi.
