The main Minister of N. Chandrababa Naida, who was evaluated by the free travel scheme for women on APSRTC buses, told the officials to ensure reasonable availability of buses, given the probable increase in occupancy after the planned launch of August 15th.
Mr. Naida suggested that new buses should be obtained or hired, and at the same time order all buses that could be needed for APSRTC fleet in the future should be studied electric vehicles and to what extent existing buses could be converted into electric buses. He added that all buses should be equipped with GPS devices.
Mr. Naida said that promises to people at the time of elections should be maintained despite the financial burden they mean with them, and in the same spirit emphasized the need for fiscal caution and said that every rupee was valuable.
He called on APSRTC officials to explore the new income flows, reduce spending and improve operational efficiency and emphasize the importance of cleanliness in all public carrier and buses.
Furthermore, Mr. Naidu recommended officials to explore whether it was possible to run buses through the battery replacement, because it would be cost -effective, and evaluate the operation of the battery and heaven of batteries and private service stations.
Officials told the Chief Minister that 2,536 other buses were required for free travel system and the costs were estimated at the Crore 996 ₹.
Women could take 889 million trips per year within the system from the current 430.60 million. To date, Delhi, Panjab, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Telangana offer free bus travel to women and Andhra Pradesh should determine their scale, Mr. Naida added.
