APTF strives for local cadre status for ZP teachers, warns against agitation
The State Executive Committee of the Andhra Pradesh Teachers Federation (APTF) has urged the state government to organize the Panchayat Raj teachers into local cadres in accordance with the Andhra Pradesh Public Employment Order, 2025.
State president of the federation Chennupati Manjula said that while officials encouraged enrollment in government schools, the publicity surrounding the ‘Thalliki Vandanam’ program was adversely affecting admissions. She demanded that the benefit be extended exclusively to public school students.
APTF State General Secretary K. Basava Linga Rao said that nearly 98% of teachers working in Zilla Parishad schools should be placed under local cadres at the district level, while principals of high schools should be placed under zonal cadres. He urged Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to intervene and facilitate promotions based on common seniority.
The federation also demanded the appointment of the 12th president of the PRC, 30% interim relief, release of four pending DAs, payment of arrears of the PRC and DA, cancellation of the contributory pension system, implementation of transfers and promotions, filling of vacancies in Plus-2 schools, promotion of MEOs based on common seniority and exemption of older teachers from TET.
The executive committee has decided to launch large-scale agitations if the government does not resolve these and other outstanding issues related to teachers and education.
