The mission of the government of Kerala to exclude extreme poverty was the main milestone on Saturday, with Kottayam became the first district in a state that was officially declared without extreme poverty. Minister of Local Locations MB Rajesh made a notice held in Kottayam.

Kottayam became the first district to complete the assessment of poverty on January 10, 2022. The final survey identified 903 individuals living in extreme poverty. A total of 978 micro-plans were then prepared and implemented through local self-governing bodies to deal with their needs.
Measures taken
Support includes inter -storey sets, cooked meals for 605 families, drugs for 693 families and palliative care services for 206. Health and security needs were distributed to six families. Support for the generation of income has been extended to 156 families through various initiatives, including the Ujivanam project in Kudumbashree, local authorities and private partners. Housing was provided to 67 families who lacked shelters and 50 families who needed land and housing. Another 22 families were moved to rented houses.
In addition, 490 recipients were to help obtain key documents such as Aadhaar cards, allocation and bank accounts. Educational support included free bus cards and study materials for 55 students. The project also took steps to rehabilitate and help people with mental health problems and those who were homeless or wandered.
