Rath Yatra 2025: During the annual Rath Yatra festival in Ohish Puri, on Friday, June 27, more than 500 devotees were reportedly injured after massive crowds set off ahead to pull Taldhwaja Chariot, Lord Balabhadra.
The injury occurred during the Taladhwaja Chariot ceremony – when the devotees rushed to catch the ropes of the car, Kalinga TV informed.

Rath Yatra is the annual Puri festival that refers to the path of Lord Jagannath, along with his siblings Lord Balabhadra and the goddess of subhadra from the temple of Puri to Gundicha, which is approximately 2.5 kilometers away.
Every year the festival attracts crowds of dedicated coastal pilgrimage.
Devoted to weak during Rath Yatra
Odisha Minister Mukesh Mahaling attributed the incidents of high humidity to reported dedicated faints during Rath Yatra.
“One or two devotees have shrunk because of weather conditions, but the rescue teams reacted quickly and took them to the hospital,” the Minister said.
Elon Scare in Ahmedabad Rath Yatra
Previously, three elephants lost control during Jagannath Rath Yatra in the capital Gujarat, Ahmedabad, injured one of the passers -by, PTI reported.
After the incident, the video appeared online, showing one of the elephants, decorated with the festivities and running towards the road.
“One premium was injured after the elephant was disrupted and entered the narrow lane in the Khadia area. The injured person was moved to the nearby hospital. The procession continues as planned,” Komal Vyas said.
The panic broke out when people rushed to save themselves, and others tried to stop the elephant. It was quickly under control and taken away. According to the fire brigade, doctors and the police, there were nor on the spot.
Yatra took about 12 hours to walk through different parts of the city.
